Aizawl, Sept 7: Chief Minister Lal Thanhawla was today criticized for his favoritism by opposition ZNP chief Lalduhoma. Lalduhoma said that he find it difficult to understand why Lal Thanhawla has shown favour to one particular Mizo community of Manipur.
“We, ZNP, will never favour one over another. We shall rather do our best for all of them (all the various Mizo communities)”, Lalduhoma said.
Though the press release of ZNP quoting its President’s speech in the day did not clearly mention, Lalduhoma seems to indicate CM Hawla’s letter to Prime Minister in favour of Kuki community recently.
CM Hawla has written to PM that the Kuki community is also to be given Autonomous District Council if the Naga Community is given the same under the Naga Accord that has been signed recently.
Lalduhoma in his speech today addressing partymen at ZNP office here said that the natural calamity in Myanmar and the incident in Manipur recently have turned a ‘blessing in disguise’ in that the two has fostered integration of the various Mizo communities in different parts of the world.
“There was a time when the Zo descendents did not discriminate each other. Even during the insurgency period, many had fled to Burma where they took refuge under the care of fellow Mizos”, Lalduhoma said.
“There was also a time of hostility when some, even those born and brought up in Mizoram were taken for Foreigners and ousted”, he added.
“But now the misfortune in Myanmar and Manipur is has renewed our brotherhood” ZNP President Laduhoma said.
“It appears as if we compete to shower love upon our fellow Mizo brothers”, he added. Laduhoma acknowledged Sangzela Tlau, Zofa Global Network, and ZORO for their priceless effort for Mizo integration.
In the light of Lalduhoma’s criticism towards CM Hawla, mention may be made here that there are Hmar, Paite, Biate, Gangte and several other kindred tribes under ‘Mizo’ when taken in its inclusive and real sense as the term literally mean ‘a group of hill people’.
