Aizawl, Aug 30: Few days after the resigned Minister of State, Lal Thanzara denied that his resignation was prompted by fear of insecurity or disqualification, opposition Mizo National Front (MNF) on Saturday held the opposite saying the minister resigned because he has fear.
The main opposition MNF in a release said that the tainted minister was entangled in what may be termed as the most deep rooted corruption scam. “As he was completely shaken by Sunshine Overseas private Ltd. and H.P. Modern Flour Mills scam, he tendered his resignation which otherwise has manifested the ‘admission of guilt”, MNF said, adding that there was no other reason for a MoS or MLA to resign from his post unless he has the feeling of insecurity or fear. The opposition also hit out at Chief Minister Lal Thanhawla saying when he backed his brother stating that his resignation was to prove his innocence and that to allow himself to be probed freely, he was trying to mislead the people with a false teaching.
MNF said that as per the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in Mizoram Legislative Assembly, – Deputy Speaker has no right to accept the resignation of MLA unless authorized by the speaker. Lal Thanzara according to MNF was resigned instantly after ‘Congress Legislature Party’ (CLP) deliberated over his issue. “Not able to wait the speaker return from Delhi, the CLP informed him that a circumstance has arose to authorize the deputy speaker so that Lal Thanzara do not face disgrace. Subsequently the speaker sent authorization through fax from Delhi accordingly which Lal Thanzara resigned in haste on 20 August after being accepted by the deputy speaker”, MNF said in a release.
Citing that it would not ignored the scam over Lal Thanzara, MNF said he kept kept on changing his words between holding and not holding shares in Sunshine Overseas. “Although he try to behave like a wolf in sheep clothing, we would find out the real picture of Lal Thanzara from return & file of Income Tax given by the firm”, a statement signed by Zobiakvela, Secretary, MNF media cell said. The minister would not be simply set free for giving undue favour to Sunshine Overseas as additional incharge of PWD in which he held 21% share and secretly supplying nutrients (biscuits) under Social Welfare department in the name of his factory H.P. Modern Flour Mills during 2009-2015 which again was an infringement of Govt. of India Ministry of Home Affairs‘s code of conduct for Minister Clause 2 Sub No.(c), MNF said.
MNF also said that Lal Thanzara’s resignation was prompted by the feeling of insecurity because he was likely to be disqualified on ground of breaching ‘The Representation of the People Act, 1951 Chapter III 9A’ and Code of Conduct for Minister Clause 2 Sub. No.(c).
