Aizawl, July 29: Torrential rainfall in south Mizoram has hit Tlabung of Lunglei district with at least 20 houses in Chakma’s villages of Tippereghat-I were under water after Khawthlangtuipui river flooded the areas due heavy rains that continued for the past few weeks.
Two third of household families in Tippereghat-I, a 200 house Chakma village have been affected by heavy rainfall with 20 houses being already submerged by floodwater, while 60 more houses are in precarious condition. 60 families have vacated their houses and joined their relatives at safer place due to flood, leaders of Tippereghat village said.
The torrential rainfall that continues over the past few weeks also inundated fields and farms of 130 families at Tippereghat. The incessant rainfall in and around Tlabung is likely to disrupt normal life for a long time at Tippereghat as some business establishments and markets have been flooded by the water.
The flood has caused heavy damage on residential houses and fields at Silkur, Bindasora and Lamthai. The worse buy gabapentin online without dr approval affected people were the agriculturists, sources said.
The flooding of Khawthlangtuipui river has submerged a house in Tlabung bazar veng that belong to one Lalnghilhlovi, while the pillar of 6 more houses were also submerged by the flood. Besides, 4 waiting sheds on the bank of the river have also been reportedly under water.
People in Tlabunga travels on boat to reach other places as some roads in certain areas were inundated by the flood. Meanwhile, marboat service between Tlabung and Serhuan has also been stopped by the authority. 10 villages across Khawthlangtuipui have been cut off as vehicle could not pass beyond the river and border fencing has been stopped due to heavy rainfall and flood.
According to sources from Tlabung, the flood caused by Khawthlangtuipui river this time is the worse after 2010 as water has crossed 4-6 meters beyond the danger mark. The level of water at this situation has kept increasing further, sources said.
