Aizawl, March 7: Urban Development and Poverty Alleviation (UD&PA) Minister Zodintluanga on Monday said the state government is planning to build 20,000 houses for urban poor by 2022 under the ‘Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana’ (PMAY) schemes.

The Beneficiary led Construction scheme will cover 23 Mizoram’s census towns and measure would be taken to provide affordable house to about 20,000 families by 2022,” Zodintluanga said, adding the DPR for 8 towns have been approved and sanction for Aizawl and Lunglei town has been already allotted.

Among several others, the eligibility criteria also stated that the beneficiary must be an Indian citizen, a local resident of not less than five years and Economically Weaker Section (EWS) family whose annual income is below Rs 3 lakh.
