Aizawl, Nov 20: Out of the total 103 Polling Stations for LADC General Election on 26th November next, 4 Polling Stations- Sabualtlang and Kakichhuah of Tuithumhnar Constituency and Zochachhuah and Hmawngbuchhuah of Sekulh Constituency have been declared ‘Sensitive Polling Station’, Returning Officer and District Election Officer J. Hmingthanmawia told media today while interacting with the latter at his office.
As to the reason for declaring the 4 Polling Stations as ‘Sensitive’, it is because of its location at Indo-Myanmar Border and passes through by militants, Returning Officer J. Hmingthanmawia said. However, the militant outfits have not even once created disturbance during elections, he added.
In 38 villages where there are Polling Stations with more than 700 Voters, one Presiding Officer and 3 Polling Officers each shall be sent, while in the rest Polling Station, one Presiding Officer and 2 Polling Officers each, DEO J. Hmingthanmawia said.
All necessary steps have been taken to ensure fair and peaceful election, he told the media persons. He said that Polling Officials have been given training and the same being continued arrangement has been made for voting by polling party from 18th till today.
As regards Communication Plan, 42 Polling Stations are well-connected by Mobile Phone Signal while MPRO shall be on duty in the rest 61 Polling Stations, he said.
The DEO said that 7 Sector Officers (Magistrates) which shall keep watch over Model Code of Conduct and look after Electronic Voting Machine Reserve on the day of polling.
He mentioned that EVM Checking has also begun since 17th November and Commissioning has begun from today. 2 Engineers from the manufacturing Company on kept on regular duty, he added.
State Election Commission has appointed R. Thanga and Lalthlamuana, both Secretary to Government of Mizoram, and the two have now arrived in Lawngtlai, DEO said.
Lawngtlai SP Sanglura who also briefed the media on security measures said that both Armed and Unarmed personnel shall be on duty in Sensitive Polling Stations while in the rest Polling Station only the latter.
6 Striking Forces shall be arranged for any untoward incident, he said, adding, 435 strong security persons will be deployed for whom orientation shall be held on 23 and 25 of this month.
LADC General Election 2015 will be held on the 26th of this month and counting of votes shall begin from 28 at Lawngtlai DC Conference Hall and BNRGSK Hall.
