Aizawl, Jan 8: For the first great road mishap to be occurred this New Year, at least 6 people were killed and 7 others injured when a Aizawl bound Maxicabs fell into a gorge early this morning in Aizawl district.
The accident occurred around 4.30 in the morning at Seling village, about 45 km away from Aizawl city. The maxicab boarded by 13 passengers including three children was coming from Zokhawthar village in Champhai district near Myanmar border and was heading towards Aizawl when it fell into the gorged and rolled about 100 meter down the road. 6 people including 3 women died on the spot, buy gabapentin 300mg uk police said.
The injured persons were first taken to Thingsulthliah hospital and then later referred to Aizawl Civil hospital. Of the two children among the injured people, the condition of one was reportedly critical.
There was a married couple among the deceased people, police also said.
On learning the mishap, villagers rushed to the spot and conduct rescue operation. All the bodies have been recovered and were first taken to Seling YMA Run (hall) from where they were dispatched to Aizawl for postmortem.
Though the cause of the accident was yet to be ascertained, it was suspected that the driver might have dozed off, police said.
