Aizawl, Nov 22: With the most awaited polling for the by-election to Aizawl North-III assembly seat came to an end last Saturday after hectic schedules of public meeting, election campaign and rallies, the candidates along with party workers are in a nail biting position and remained finger crossed for the results to be declared on 24 November.
None of the three candidates in fray seems lost enthusiasm as every of them are confident of winning the bypolls. However, the name of Congress candidate Lal Thanzara supported by Mizoram people’s Conference (MPC) figured prominent among the three candidates expecting to win the election when this paper interacts with some voters.
Speaking to reporters after casting his votes, MPCC president and Chief Minister Lal Thanhawla while expressing confidence said Congress candidate Lal Thanzara would occupy the seat he vacated after his resignation on August 18 over conflict of interest case. He however was not sure whether Lal Thanzara would be given back minister portfolio in case he was elected.
Lal Thanzara also said that he was very confident of winning the bypolls and the allegation over holding plethora of share in a company would not have much impact on his candidature as people still put trust in him and the Congress government.
Talking to reporters on the day, ZNP president and NDA candidate Lalduhoma said, “God has planed something big for Mizoram. The Kingdom of God is coming and a miracle would be happened soon”.
Replying to reporters on question of allegation against Lal Thanzara, Lalduhoma said he has no personal enmity with him but all such where can i buy neurontin things happened on God’s plan. “The allegation leveled against him was just God’s plan to bring changes and transformation in Mizoram”, he added.
He said that Lal Thanzara if voted to power would be of no great surprise as he is the ruling party candidate supported by MPC. “Though combining in group, the opposition parties on some occasions failed to defeat a Congress that stands single. If Lal Thanzara win, it would be of no great surprise, but if I win that will be of great surprise and I hope miracle is going to happen”, Lalduhoma said.
Main opposition the Mizo National Front (MNF) candidate K. Vanlalvena in his interview with media said people are a bit reluctant to vote Lal Thanzara whose resignation necessitated the by-election.
“As far as my knowledge is concern people are not giving support to Lal Thanzara who searched an opportunity for the bypolls by tending resignation in the hope of electing him again. This, in fact will give us better chance of winning the bypolls”, he said.
“I am well aware of the people of Aizawl North -III who have great dislike for the wrong doers. I believe God is going to react at this moment”, he added.
Replying to reporters on the question of Rs 2 graft allegation, K.Vena said initially he though the allegation would have negative impact on him. “I clarified the matter, I prayed to God who know every thing and I hope this allegation would not affect his chance of winning the bypolls at the end”, he said.
