Aizawl,Dec 6: Addressing the closing function of 39th Annual Conference of Indian Medical Association (IMA) Mizoram State Branch as Chief Guest here at Tourist Centre, Berawtlang, yesterday, Chief Minister Lal Thanhawla called on the doctors in the State to educate and guide the people, who he said, are still in need of an awakening concerning health.
The Mizos still lacks a lot regarding health and because of not being careful in what they eats and drinks and because of not abstaining from smoking and consumption of tobacco and related products, deadly diseases are attacking the people, Chief Minister said as he called on the doctors to educate and guide the people to help them awakened in this regard.
Chief Minister called on the doctors to stay updated with the latest medical findings and new diseases.
Underlining the need of systematic waste management in order to prevent diseases, Chief Minister called on the doctors to come up with innovative idea in collaboration with departments and society leaders in the same regard.
CM Lal Thanhawla said that the government is taking steps to bring about self-sufficiency, adding that one needs to work hard to be self-sufficient, and one needs to be healthy in order to work hard, and the doctors play an important role in this regard.
The theme of this year’s IMA’s Conference was “Pre-Natal Counselling & Parental Education”.
A workshop was held during the conference under the aegis of IMA Academic Wing and Health Department (NHM).
IMA, Mizoram Branch President Dr R.Lianzama presided over the conference closing function while Hony. Secretary Dr.John Zohmingthanga gave annual report.
