Aizawl, Nov 3: Congress candidates Lal Thanzara today filed nomination for 12- Aizawl North-III, the assembly seat which he vacated after resigning from the cabinet as well as a legislator on 18 August over allegations of conflict of interests and misuse of power.
The Aizawl North –III Congress candidate filed nomination by taking an oath before the returning officer Lalchungnunga MCS.
Speaking to media few minute after filing the nomination, Lal Thanzara said he is confident of winning the bypoll and that he has came back to fight for justice. “ I am confident of winning the bypoll by the grace of God and the bypoll result when declared on 24 November will revealed justice whether I was innocent (right) or not”, he added. He also told media that the people of Aizawl North-III assembly constituency are still putting trust on him as he was asked to contest the bypoll by a resolution made during Congress block conference.
The bypoll, necessitated by the resignation of former health minister Lal Thanzara on August 18 over alleged ‘conflict of interests’ case, would be held on November 21. Meanwhile, ZNP-BJP alliance NDA has not announced its candidate till today even Wednesday is the last date of filing nominations. It is expected that the main opposition MNF’s candidate K. Vanlalvena and ZNP-BJP alliance NDA candidate are to file nomination on Wednesday.
