Aizawl, Sept 24: In a strong rebuttal, the ruling Congress on Thursday hit back at Hmar People’s Convention (Democratic) or HPC (D) over the latter release terming that the militant release which denies its cadres who had been arrested on 21 September was baseless and doubtful.
Congress in a statement said that the three HPC (D) cadres arrested by Mizoram police on 21 September at Hmarkhawlien in Cachar district of Assam were in fact belong to H. Zosangbera led HPC(D) against the denial by the militant group. According to the confession made by the arrested militants before court, said Congress, the three cadres belongs to HPC (D) militant.
“Ironically, the HPC(D) release allegedly issued in the name of its Secretary, Information and Publicity Department John F. Hmar which claimed that the three arrested militants on 21 September were not its cadres was baseless and it was an attempt to distract the attention of others”, Congress said in a statement.
Slamming the release, Congress said that it might have been issued from some quarters but not from the real HPC(D) militant as the language used in it was doubtful and that the release was issued without a signature. In most of the release, said Congress, HPC(D) used to put their signature.
Congress added that the release might have been issued by vested interest to disgrace the government leaders.
