Aizawl, Nov 23: Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) minister Dr. Jitendra Singh who arrived in Aizawl today on official campaign for the coming Aizawl Municipal Corporation (AMC) and Lai Autonomous District Council (LADC) polls invited the people to vote National Democratic Alliance (NDA) for sustainable development in the jurisdiction of AMC and LADC. The minister was received by leaders of NDA at Lengpui Airport where he convened press meet shortly after his arrival.
Dr. Singh promised to fulfill the NDA’s manifesto if the party candidates were voted to power in the coming AMC and LADC polls.
He said that speedy measure would be taken under ‘Smart City’ project to make Aizawl as clean and smart city and added that Aizawl will be declared as ‘City of Churches’ if NDA was voted to power in the coming AMC election.
Dr. Sing said that measure which underway for various projects under DoNER ministry like NEC and NLCPR shall be continued and apart from this new initiatives shall be taken to bring in more development.
While promising to extend more support to LADC, Dr. Singh said the central government will help the council to bring more development in the area.
For more local and societal development, Dr. Singh said the central government would give more attention to the voice of NDA candidates who have been elected in the coming elections. Citing that NDA government would continue extending help to NDA’s constituents ZNP and state BJP, Singh said that he is hopeful of forming ministry in the next assembly election in 2018.
He added that the existing Rs 11 crore sanctioned by the 14th Finance commission to AMC would be augmented if NDA was voted to power.
Taking a jibe at the ruling Congress, Dr. Singh alleged that the NLUP project has been utilized by the ruling government as vote bank politics and wooing membership.
According to him NLUP fund did not come from Prime Minister Special Package and was arranged from state plan fund. “Development project should cover all section of societies or people irrespective of which party they belong”, he added.
Dr. Singh further accused Congress of misusing the Food Security Act to attract membership.
He said that the Food Security Act which is the initiative of Prime Minsiter Narendra Modi aims at providing rice to people at subsidized rate and it should cover every one.
Emphasizing BJP as a party that believed on secularism, Singh said communalism or religious fanaticism has no room under NDA government and ban on cow slaughter or beef eating is totally depend on the state government and the central government has no interference in this issue.
Besides promising to release third installment for the undergoing construction of colleges, Singh also said that more reputed institutions shall be established to bring quality education in the state
The visiting DoNER minister also promised the completion of the undergoing construction of Multipurpose Centre at Upper Republic and Community Hall at various localities if the NDA candidates for the respective constituencies were voted to power.
