Aizawl, Aug 13: FIFA and AIFF officials, who are currently in Mizoram on a 3 day visit, interacted with Chief Minister Lal Thanhawla at his residential bungalow yesterday evening. The visiting FIFA and AIFF officials apprised the Chief Minister of their purpose of visit which is mainly to study the ground situation as to how Mizoram may be helped to further make great progress in Football.
Chief Minister thanked FIFA and AIFF for their special attention to Mizoram and for their will to help. During their discussion, CM Hawla shared with the FIFA and AIFF officials of his concern that there used to be racial discrimination in some of the sports disciplines in India. He expressed his wish that such kind of discrimination may not exist.
Chief Minister also told the leaders of FIFA and AIFF- the apex governing bodies of football in the world and India respectively, that one of the top priorities of his government is the future of the youth. The government will continue to do the best it can, he added.
FIFA leaders appreciated the initiative of Mizoram government in promoting football and discussed with the Chief Minister their suggestions for further progress hereafter.
MFA President Lal Thanzara, Minister of State and Lalnghinglova Hmar (Tetea Hmar), MFA Secretary accompanied the leaders of FIFA and AIFF namely Dr.Shaji Prabhakaran, Regional Development Officer for FIFA in South and Central Asia, Vincent Subramaniam, FIFA Technical Development Officer, Sunado Dhar, I-League Chief Executive Officer and Savio Medier, AIFF Coaching & Academy Director.
