Aizawl, March 27: People across the State celebrated Good Friday on last Friday as in other parts of the world and also Easter Sunday today.
The congregation thronged the church in their respective local churches to take part in the Holy Communion and in some places community feast was organized during the celebrations.
State Governor Nibhai Sharma also greeted the people on the occasion of Good Friday and Easter Sunday.
He asked for rededication on the part of the people so that peace and tranquility may continue to reign within India and across the world.
India is a secular country and people have the right to practice any religion, and as different people lives in the country, different religions are practiced, the Governor said, adding that due to the respect shown to each religion, so far there has been no big problem along religious line.
It is the best that the people continue to move forward peacefully with toleration of each religion, he advised.
The Governor said that doing good to others, compassion towards wildlife and forest, being against evils, and the belief in one omnipotent God is a common acceptance across religions.
Saying that doing good deed is popular in Christian teachings, the Governor invited the people of Mizoram to continue to be a role model for the people of other Indian states.
