Aizawl, Dec 17: Governor Lt.Gen (Rtd) Nirbhay Sharma today exhorted Police Officers in the State to be a role model.
He said that they are the image of the government so ought to live a disciplined life more than others.
11 Mizoram Police Officers, who are now put on probation after completion of training at NEPA, held interaction with the Governor in the day at Raj Bhavan here.
The Governor asked the Police Officers, who were led by C. Laldina, DIG, to also learn other languages besides Mizo which is necessary given their dealing with people speaking different languages.
The Governor also asked the Police Officers to maintain the respect and authority carried by Police Uniform.
The Governor also advised the Police Officers to deal sensitively with the old, women and children even as they work for justice, peace and tranquility. The Governor expressed his opinion before the MPS Probationers that the time has come along with the change of time and the progress made by the world today to critically study the responsibility of the Police and see if there is a way to work for the people in a more comprehensive way. Besides Law & Order, the police need to study the popular mind-set, the economic condition of the general people, and the overall atmosphere of the society.
