Aizawl, Dec 21: Mizoram Governor Lt.Gen (Rtd) Nirbhay Sharma and his wife Jyotsna Sharma held interaction with Church leaders and NGO leaders at Raj Bhavan here this evening.
Governor expressed thankfulness over the avoidance of fireworks and crackers during Christmas celebration in Mizoram. He appreciated the decoration of streets and other places instead.
Saying that fireworks and crackers is very unhealthy and produce both noise and air pollution, the Governor thanked the people for obeying the instruction of government. The Governor, meanwhile, expressed his concern for the overcrowding of Aizawl city, in which connection he called on the Church and NGO leaders to think of possible solution to the problem.
The Governor mentioned of his appreciation of the Mizo way of using Christmas season to extend help to the poor and the needy.
He acknowledged the help rendered by the people as a group including facebook and whatsapp groups besides the existing Churches and NGOs.
“I have found many good things in the Mizo society which are worth a model for others”, the Governor said.
Leaders of Presbyterian Church, Baptist Church and Salvation Army, and leaders of Central YMA, MHIP and MUP interacted with the Governor.
Chairman and General Secretary of Gilead Special School were there at the interaction meeting with the Governor.
