Rengkai (MT): The Hmar Students’ Association has reacted strongly against Mizoram Home Minister Lalzirliana for his allegations that those tasked with probing the “encounter death” of Hmar Peoples’ Convention (D) militant Malsawmkima at Tieulien village in Manipur were “hand in glove” with the rebel outfit.
Below is the full press statement of the student body:
The Hmar Students Association Joint Headquarters, Churachandpur condemns in the strongest terms, the allegations of Mizoram Home Minister Lalzirlien on the inspector tasked with investigating the fake encounter killing of one Malsawmkim, HPC-D Sergeant. The HSA sees these false allegations as an attempt to tarnish the image of a sincere and faithful servant of the state and scuttle the investigation.
The Home Minister alleged the Police Inpsector to be ‘hand in glove” with the group and even claimed that the Inspector transported several hundred rounds of ammunition for the militants when he conducted a spot visit on May 21, 2015 Tieulien fake encounter.
The HSA termed the allegations of the Home Minister on the inspector unfounded and uncalled for; the inspector’s only ‘sin’ is probably his being a Hmar, which, in the mind of the Mizoram Government possibly warrants such blatant accusations as the Mizoram Government has been looking at everything Hmar with paranoia. The Home Minister, in his attempt to cover up the atrocities of the MAP, has levelled these false allegations against a sincere, honest and faithful servant of the state.
The HSA asks the respected Home Minister to come up with a white paper on the fake encounter and corroborate with concrete evidence his allegations. Finally, the HSA urge the Home Minister to refrain from levelling false allegations with the intent of harming other’s reputation and sabotaging a state Government instituted inquiry.
