Aizawl, Nov 9: Former Health Minister and Congress candidate Lal Thanzara is the richest among three candidates in fray for the by-election to the Aizawl North III, the assembly seat which felt vacant after the minister resigned over ‘conflict of interest’ case on August 18. His total assets are worth more than Rs 92 lakh.
According to the affidavit submitted by the three candidates at the time of filing nomination, Lal Thanzara possess Rs 72,05,891.75 worth moveable property. While ZNP president and NDA candidate Lalduhoma’s total moveable property is estimated at Rs 19,27,487, MNF candidate K. Vanlalvena possessed Rs 481,1212.9 worth moveable property.
In the affidavit submitted to the Returning Officer Lalchungnunga, MCS for the bypolls, Lal Thanzara said he possesses Rs 7 lakh in cash and his wife has Rs 2 lakh in cash. His total deposits in 6 banks are over Rs 45.46 lakh and his spouse’s bank deposits are over Rs 20.15 lakh. Thanzara owns two motor cars (Hyundai i20 and Nissan Terrano) worth Rs 19, 49627 and a jewelry worth Rs 10, 000. His total moveable property is estimated at Rs 72,05,891.75.
Besides, the former minister owns immoveable assets, including agricultural and non-agricultural land in Kolasib and Bairabi. The total value of his assets is estimated at Rs 92,05,892.75.
According to the affidavit filed by Lal Thanzara in the 2013 assembly elections, his total assets were estimated at Rs 2,76,27,534.
The next richest candidate after Lal Thanzara is NDA candidate Lalduhoma. He possesses Rs 70,000 in cash and his wife has Rs 10,000 in cash. His total bank deposits are over 11 lakh and his wife total bank deposit is Rs 4,66,162. He owns one motor car (Ford) and one Jeep worth Rs 7 lakh.
Besides, ZNP president Lalduhoma owns immoveable assets, including agricultural and non-agricultural worth Rs 150 lakh in Sihhmui and Chawlhmun. His total moveable property is estimated at 19,27,487.
According to the affidavit submitted to the Returning Officer, MNF candidate K. Vanlalvena has Rs 3 lakh in cash and his spouse has Rs 20,000 in cash. With his total bank deposits and motor cycle K. Vanlalvena ‘s total moveable property is estimated at Rs 481,1212.9.
Besides, the MNF candidate owns immoveable assets, including 3 agricultural lands worth Rs 30 lakh and one non-agricultural land worth Rs 5 lakh. He also has one wheeler workshop (spare parts shop) worth Rs 8 lakh.
None of the candidates has liabilities due to the government, except for Lal Thanzara who has Rs 10 dues for housing loan and Vanlalvena has 7 lakh dues in Co-operative Apex Bank.
Besides Aizawl North III, election to five other assembly seats in four states and two Lok Sabha seats in Madhya Pradesh and Telangana will be held on November 21.
