Aizawl, Aug 12: Land Acquisition Act Drafting Committee is vigorously working in order that the Land Acquisition Bill may be tabled in the next Assembly session, official statement today said. The Drafting Committee led by its Chairman R. Romawia, Minister, Revenue Department held meeting today at Directorate of Land Revenue & Settlement Conference Hall here.
Since the “Land Acquisition Act -The flight to Fair Compensation, Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013” enacted by the Central Government cannot be implemented within Mizoram as it is, a separate law is therefore to be made by the State Government in exercise of the power conferred by India Constitution Article 371 G – for which the Drafting Committee is set up, Chairman R.Romawia said in the meeting.
He invited the members of the Drafting Committee to draft a good law which shall be suitable for the system, livelihood, society and daily life of the people of the state.
Chairman R.Romawia lauded the dedication and hard work of the members of the Drafting Committee which has held a number of meetings.
The meeting today was also attended in good number by the members of the Drafting Committee including Vice Chairman H.Zothangliana, Parliamentary Secretary, Revenue Department.
