Aizawl, Nov 6: Chief Minister Lal Thanhawla today inaugurated Lunglei Press Club Conference Hall in Lunglei.
MJA Hqrs President Vanlalrema Vantawl was also present on the occasion who said that the opening up of Press Club Conference Hall in Lunglei creates a new chapter for MJA. Chief Minister in his speech dwelt on the importance of press in democracy saying “Newspapers disseminates government programmes and make the people knowledgeable”.
It is thankful that social media has also come up in addition to print and electronic media, he said while calling for making the most use of Right to Information (RTI) for bringing fair and transparent and people friendly government.
As a piece of advice, Chief Minister asked the media persons in the state to improve themselves in raising more questions and in asking standard questions when important persons visit Mizoram and holds press conference. This will widen knowledge and it is also a mark of progress, he said.
Chief Minister also said that media persons need to have wider knowledge than others to the extent that of giving great contribution even through editorials, and asked the media persons to write more on cleanliness which shall educate the masses on the value of cleanliness.
Step is being taken to set up Press Enclave in Aizawl, CM mentioned in his speech.
The new 16 x 6 metre big Press Conference Hall was constructed at the cost of about Rs.5 lakhs from the contribution of High Power Committee (HPC) and other contributors, Thanghmingliana Renthlei, Gen Secy, MJA Dist Hqrs, said in his report.
K.Lalrinpuia, President, MJA Dist Hqrs, Lunglei presided over the inauguration programme. Chief Minister was accompanied by his wife Lal Riliani and S, Laldingliana, Vice Chairman, High Power Committee (HPC), Lunglei Dist.
