Aizawl, Dec 15: The cabinet on Monday approved 17 agendas including ‘The Mizoram entry tax rules, 2015’ which would empower the state machinery to impose taxes on imported goods. The meeting of the Council of Ministers was convened under the leadership Chief Minister Lal Thanhawla in the latter’s Conference Room on Monday and 17 agendas have been placed before the meeting.
The cabinet meeting has unanimously approved ‘The Mizoram Entry Tax Rules, 2015’ passed by the state assembly during its monsoon session in July last.
Speaking on ‘The Mizoram Entry Tax Rules, 2015’, taxation minister Lalsawta had earlier said that taxes would be imposed on 45 items of goods imported from neighbouring states and out of this the state government is expected to gain about Rs 300 lakh revenue in a year.
The meeting also approved ‘The Mizoram (Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement) Bill, 2015 and decided that an ordinance be made on this with immediate effect.
