Aizawl, Oct 4: Governor Lt.Gen(Rtd.) Nirbhay Sharma and the Chief of India Border Roads Lt Gen RM Mittal, Director General yesterday evening held interaction here at Raj Bhavan over maintenance of border roads.
During their interaction, Governor Nirbhay Sharma underlined that India needs to have good roads along its border, mentioning that a long distance of India border roads is within Mizoram.
The Governor also apprised Lt Gen RM Mittal, the Chief of India Border Roads, of his suggestion that steps may be taken such that instead of giving normal maintenance to the many short roads in different places, the long and important roads along the border may be specially attended to. The Chief of Border Roads in reply said that he would take up the matter to the Centre and discuss with Central Minister in Delhi. He added that he would first look into the suggestions of the Governor from BRTF leaders in Mizoram.
Border Roads Chief Lt Gen RM Mittal also apprised the Governor of the steps being taken now and the extent of their operation.
Director General, BRTF was accompanied by K.K.Razdan, Chief Engineer, Project Pushpak Mizoram and Col.Prasant Tripathy, Staff Officer to DG, BORDER ROADS.
