Govt to target youths in colleges
Aizawl, June 17 (Mizonews.Net): Mizoram State Olympic Association in its 7th Executive Meeting held today at Chief Minister Office cabinet room led by its President and chief minister Lal Thanhawla, decided to give lectures in different colleges of the State as a part of its initiatives for ‘Olympic Vision 2016’.
The Executive Meeting discussed widely on how, as the association concerned, they shall carry out the plan prepared by the State government ‘Olympic Vision 2016’ in an effective way.
The ‘Olympic Vision 2016’, as reported earlier, is the initiative of the State government to help participate as many Mizo youths in the forthcoming Olympic at Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in 2016. 9 different sports disciplines have been selected in the ‘Olympic Vision 2016’.
The meeting of the Olympic Association today also decided that the Olympic Day Run which is held every year on June 23 may be held this year on June 22 (Saturday), as the specific day June 23 this year falls on Sunday. The meeting also decided to ask Assam Rifles ground for its venue.
Sports Medicine Seminar which has been conducted in Aizawl may also be organized in different Districts of the State, the meeting said.
The Olympic Association has been functioning since 2012 as a separate office by renting private building. In view of its functioning in future, the Association felt that a separate building is necessary, for which the meeting today resolved that a plot may be sought from the government in the land to be vacated by Assam Rifles in Aizawl.
As MSOA is entrusted to appoint one Chef De Mission and two Dy Chef De Mission who would lead the Mizoram team at the forthcoming 35th National Games to be hosted by Kerela state in February 2014, the association in its meeting today appointed the present MSOA Secretary General Zoliana Royte as Chef De Mission, who is entrusted in turn to appoint Dy Chef De Mission.
