Aizawl, Nov 29: Mizo Sudents’ Union (MSU) General Headquarters has raised its voice against the extension of tenure of B. Sairengpuii, Commissioner of Persons with Disabilities (PWD) for another two years.
In a press release today it said that it has decided to move the state government to withdraw the notification that has been issued for B. Sairengpuii.
MSU said that it hopes the authority to reconsider the matter, which it would pay attention to and take steps as per necessity.
The tenure of B. Sairengpuii was in November, 2012 already extended by the Mizoram government for till October, 2015.
Various NGOs including MSU had protested against it but the Mizoram government did not pay heed to the appeal of the NGOs, MSU said in its release.
The sitting of MSU Office Bearer on Friday had a resolution passed stating its disapproval of the second-time extension of the tenure of B. Sairengpuii.
MSU in its release mentioned that it has many a time raised its voice against the extension of tenure of pensioners under the state government in the interest of the many youth in the State who aspire for government jobs.
MSU has in the meantime great understanding over re-appointment of employees by the government under specific circumstances and owing to the speciality of the employee, the students’ body said, adding that some of the re-appointed employees are but those who do not possess any speciality as such.
