Aizawl, March 2: The anti-corruption watchdog, People Right to Information and Development Implementing Society of Mizoram (PRISM) has strongly asked the state government to take speed measure to set up new jail in the capital.
Leaders of the anti-corruption watchdog today visited central jail in Aizawl and inspected the living condition of jail inmates and staff quarters and office there.
Based on their finding, the leaders said some of the staff quarters and office have to be renovated and new prison building has to be constructed to separate buy gabapentin inmates according to their conviction.
According to PRISM general secretary RL Liantluanga, the under trial prisoner along side with the convicted are accommodated at the central jail which made the administration poor and kept the official at trouble in the maintenance of jail inmates.
Considering accommodating the under trial prisoner together with the convicted means not exactly feasible, the organization has appealed the state government to immediately set up new jail for convicts, he said.
