Aizawl, Feb 18: A new party claimed to reform or restore Mizoram from its decadence and hence create new Zoram or Zoram thar through divine intervention has been formed. Established earlier on 13 February, the formation of new party known as ‘Zoram Thar’ was officially announced today by its founding President Rev. Dr. Zaichhawna Hlawndo who claimed that it was out of divine calling.
Speaking to reporters here, Rev. Dr. Zaichhawna Hlawndo, who was once a missionary already settled in UK said he received a divine call to return to his native Mizoram while he was transit at Dubai airport in 2012.
He said the main motive of his coming back to Mizoram is to rebuild it and hence create a new Zoram.
“I asked God why he wants me to return to my native place which is predominantly a Christian state. He told me to read the book of Nehemiah (chapter 2:18) by which He called me to re-build Mizoram like the fallen wall of Jerusalem, through His sheer divine power,” Hlawndo said, adding his party put complete trust only on God and nothing else.
Explaining about what he meant by Zoram thar is, Rev. Hlawndo said it is establishment of God’s kingdom or new government in Mizoram where God will entirely reigns. Apart from this he also pointed out 9 points of the party ideologies which interestingly includes moral change, complete elimination of corruption, transformation of Zoram politics into God’s mission, Zo re-unification, Self- dependency, Reviving Mizo culture and to bring back all Mizo Christians to the Cross etc.
When asked whether his party will contest the next assembly election, Rev. Hlawndo said it is not like other political parties as their main goal is re-building Mizoram and creating new Zoram with the help of divine power. However, he would not refuse to contest election if it is only for God to rule Mizoram, he added.
The motto of Zoram thar, not considered totally political party, is ‘God first- In God we trust’ and its emblem is white cloth embedded with red cross. While the white cloth signifies new Zoram or Zoram thar, the red-cross indicates the one who brought Zoram thar.
