Aizawl, Dec 9: Necessary official processes are being carried on for the plan to set up State Medical College to be named Mizoram Institute of Medical Education and Research (MIMER). In the same regard, senior officers of the State Health Department led by Health Secretary Lalhmingthanga and Principal Director, H&FW Dr K. Ropari yesterday late evening held meeting with Health Minister Lal Thanzara.
Health Minister said in the meeting that he gives utmost importance to the plan of setting up Medical College in the State and added he want an inspection of the site proposed for the same under his leadership.
Step would be further taken on as required so as to get the approval of MCI inspection team when the latter comes.
The process as per the standard of MCI is also on regarding recruitment of additional staff and renovation of premises.
There is plan to even look out for partnership as per necessity for the success of the State Medical College one it is opened, the Minister added.
Jane Ralte gave progress report in the meeting on the initiative for MIMER, after which discussion over further steps ahead was held.
MIMER is planned to be set up State Referral Hospital, Falkawn and the same has been verified on 25th November, 2015 by officials of Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of India. Ministry of Health & Family Welfare has also on 30th November, 2015 invited the State Health Department for first hearing and the same has been done.
Another hearings is likely to be had given the rigid standard of Medical Council of India (MCI), official report today said.
