Aizawl, oct 29: Main opposition, the Mizo National Front (MNF) on Thursday hit out at MPCC president and Chief Minister Lal Thanhawla saying the latter has disgraced the assembly when he made offensive remarks against the opposition parties with respect to the concluded assembly session.
The MNF alleged that the Chief Minister in his public address at Congress Bhavan on 23 October had said that the opposition legislators failed to embarrass the ruling government during the session.
Hitting out at Lal Thanhawla, MNF said that the offensive remarks that the deplorable road condition raised by the opposition MLAs did not draw public concern and that some legislators among the opposition parties have ill feeling were somewhat very indecent to be made by a person who could sit as chief minister for the longest term.
The Chief Minister also brought shame upon himself when he accused some opposition legislators of having ill manner, MNF said, adding that it was an attempt on the part of the Chief Minister to hamper the prestige of legislators as a house leader.
Accusing Chief Minister Lal Thanhawla of oppressing and restricting the opposition from revealing the malfunctioning and maladministration of the government, MNF said the former was unable to put up with or tolerate a legislator who is active and courage enough to point out the government of its wrongness.
Opposition maintained that a state assembly is where legislators use to point out the system of the ruling government and debated on the issue to arrive at conclusive decision. “Lal Thanhawla as a house leader should know that the opposition legislators are not just trying to embarrass the ruling government but trying to correct it”, MNF appealed.
