Aizawl, Oct 13: Mizoram has also from today started giving Pentavalent Vaccine to children of age group 6 months-1 year as a precaution against children diseases like diphtheria, pertussis, tetanus, hepatitis B and Haemophilus influenza type B.
The ‘Pentavalent Vaccine Programme’ was launched today by Lunglei DC Ashish Madhaorao More in a function held at RNTCP Conference Hall. Para-Medical Workers will carry out the programme.
Speaking at the launching function, chired by Dr.Ch.Laldinpuia, SMO, the Chief Guest and DC Ashish More said it is thankful ‘Pentavalent Vaccine Programme’ has now been launched in Mizoram too joining other parts of the country. It is a blessing for Lunglei District too, he added.
Underlining the need to take care of child health by everyone, DC Ashish More said the society is responsible for the health of the children.
In order to ensure that all the children of the target group gets the pentavalent vaccine, the DC called on the parents to take their children in time and the para-medical workers to put fullest effort. He expressed his wish that Lunglei District may become the one most successful with the programme, he added, inviting the people of the District to take step at their own places. Dr.Lalparliani, SMO, Lunglei briefed the gathering at the function on how pentavalent vaccine is given to children and how it has good impact on their health. HK Lalruathlui d/o Lalthuthlengmawii, Chanmari-II, who was given pentavalent vaccine in the day, was the first in Lunglei District and in Mizoram to receive the same.
