Aizawl, July 31: Mizoram police on Friday said that act of robbery has become rampant in the state capital recently after robbers ransacked and robbed government offices including some schools.
In a meeting held under the leadership of Aizawl SP over the recent rampant in robbery, the state law enforcing agency said that robbing on government offices and schools has become rampant in the capital recently. Of these, while some cases have been successfully prosecuted, there are many cases which remain untraceable.
The robbery on government offices usually occurred at night time during holidays or weekend according to police.
The law enforcing agency also asked government official to hire watchmen during night time and on holiday for vigilance. Besides, the government authorities are also asked to lock their office gate and closed window properly so that robbers do not break into.
Meanwhile, Mizoram police has asked the general public especially vehicle and two wheeler owners to lock properly and park their vehicles at proper place. It has been reported that a number of complaints about missing vehicles and motor bikes were received by police recently. But, by the time police reacted to the complaint, robbers had used to already crossed the borders and on several occasions the missing vehicles were recovered from neighbouring Assam, police said.
