Aizawl, March 18: The anti-corruption watchdog, People Right to Information and Development Implementing Society of Mizoram (PRISM) on Thursday demanded the resignation of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Minister John Rotluangliana for the alleged anomaly in the selection of beneficiaries and making massive error with ration cards.
The anti-corruption watchdog on Thursday wrote to Chief Minister Lal Thanhawla demanding the resignation of the minister.
The watchdog alleged that while there were some families who were not selected as beneficiary under NFSA despite being truly eligible, many families who were ineligible for the benefit have been included among the beneficiaries.
PRISM said that there were gross errors in the ration cards issued recently to the beneficiaries which allegedly hampered the identity of the majority. “Not only ration cards issued to the general public were erroneous, but you have also been issued erroneous card,” PRISM said in its letter to the Chief Minister.
It also alleged that many public money have been wasted in the process of making ration cards and the bard code labeled in the ration card was meaningless and visually not traceable.
“Considering that the error that was in ration cards and in the process of making ration cards was the gross error ever committed by the Government, we were hoping minister Rotluangliana who hold the responsibility to tender his resignation and since he has not resign till date, we ask you to sack him,” PRISM appealed the Chief Minister.
