Aizawl, Jan 5: The BJP, Mizoram unit on Monday appointed Prof John V. Hluna as its new state president.
Hluna, a professor of Pachhunga University College, would hold the top job of the BJP unit for three years after which an election would be held, BJP sources said.
More than two weeks after the Mizoram unit of the BJP cancelled its organisational election due to Intra-party squabble, selection for party leaders was held on Monday at Ramhlun Indoor stadium in accordance with BJP’s bye law. The appointment was made in the interest of majority and former president of the central committee of the Young Mizo Association (YMA) Lianzuala was appointed as member of the BJP’s National Council, the statement said.
The meeting held in Aizawl was chaired by the BJP’s spokesperson and in charge of BJP Meghalaya unit Nalin Kohli and attended by BJP North East Coordinator Ranjit Majumder and others party leaders http://www.cheapambienpriceonline.com from the north east including Sampark Pramukh.
The newly appointed president would further appoint state office bearers and other party leaders in consultation with the central leadership. Speaking on the occasion, newly appointed state BJP president Prof. Dr. JV Hluna who is also former legislator said the ruling Congress in Mizoram has become of no use as its parent party failed to rule at the center.
He added that state BJP is the lone political party in Mizoram that is competent for bringing development in the state with the help of central power as the Mizo National Front (MNF) which had once become an ally of NDA has already tarnished its relationship with the BJP at the centre.
Slamming the state Congress government, Hluna said it is a high time for the people of Mizoram to bring down congress if radical changes are to be made in the system of government.
