Aizawl, July 27: The dead body of 80- year-old Zo Re-Unification Organisation (ZoRO) president R. Thangmawia who died on July 20 at his hotel room in Geneva was brought home today here in Aizawl with tribute welcome at Lengpui Airport.
A large crowd had gathered at Lengpui Airport today to welcome and pay tribute to the president where tribute welcome was organized under ZoRO, Gen. Hqrs during which leader of several NGOs paid homage to the president and expressed their sadness for his untimely death.
Dr.Seilen Haokip,Secretary,ZoRO General Headquarters who accompanied the president to Geneva also gave the report during the tribute welcome at Lengpui airport.
After the tribute welcome at Lengpui airport, the dead body of R. Thangmawia was taken to Vanapa Hall in the same evening for funeral and farewell ceremony. Besides, tribute and condolence address from Chief Minister Lal Thanhawla, leader of several NGOs like MSU,MZP,CYMA,MUP,MHIP and MJA addressed the funeral service.
The body of R. Thangmawia will be buried at Electric Veng on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, a condolence meeting in fond memory of Pu R Thangmawia, President of Zo Re-unification Organisation (ZORO) was held here in Mizoram House, Vasant Vihar on Sunday night. Friends and well-wishers of the ZO hnahthlak ‘ZO Peoples’ belonging to Manipur and Mizoram paid tributes and honoured to the departed the soul.
It was attended by a prominent author of Zoram Khawvel and retired Indian Foreign Services (IFS) Pu L Keivom, Dr L Lamkhanpiang Ngaihte, Assistant Professor of JNU, Pu Lun Khuptong, President of Young Paite Association (YPA) Delhi, Pu George K Mate, son of late Albert Gengoukhup Mate, Pu James Mate, chief of Tuibuang village, Pu Lalrochunga, associate professor of Hrangbana College and his family, Zomi Students Federation Delhi Cell, Kuki Students Organisation (Delhi), and Siamsinpawlpi (SSPP) Joint Headquarters Delhi. Besides many others were also present.
