Aizawl, Jan 6: Sports & Youth Services minister Zodintluanga on Wednesday said that students need to know their priority and a student who got achievement due to hard work deserved to be felicitated. He said this while addressing the 31st general conference of the Tuipuiral Zirlai Pawl (TZP) held at Samthang Community Hall on Wednesday.
Zodintluanga who graced the general conference as chief guest said some of the student bodies today behaved as though they have forgotten their main duty. “Is it not that the image of the student body is being distorted when it involved in active politics for selfish end apart from serving the students community, the main objective for which it has been created,” Zodintluanga said as he often question, adding, student ought to know what is their duty and priority.
He said that one of the big mistakes imbued in the mindset of the Mizos as a whole is giving high regard to the habit of getting through the examination without hard work and despising the one who work very hard. “This wrongful notion has to be erased from now. A student should be absorbed in his study and those student obsessed with fashion must introspect themselves,” he said.
The minister lauded the Tuipuiral Zirlai Pawl for having felicitated students who performed well in their academic pursuit and also exhorted the student community to be useful and productive not only for Tuipuiral but also Mizoram.
According to Zodintluanga, a sizeable number of degree holder students in Mizoram today remained idle without a proper job.
He urged the student community to not hesitate to do manual labour as the the government would be unable to absorb the increasing number of unemployed youth.
The Tuipuiral Zirlai Pawl, a student body which covered 25 villages was established on 9 February, 1986. The general conference also passed a resolution demanding the allocation of another three doctors in the area apart from one which has been already allocated.
