Aizawl, Nov 11: State Transport Department has launched e-payment system though which Road Tax and Passenger-Goods (p&g) Tax can now be paid online through vahan.mizoram.nic.in.
The e-payment system is made available as of now for only those registered with State Bank of India internet banking.
Later, it would be upgraded so as to be available using Debit card, credit card and through internet banking facilities of banks other than SBI, the department said.
As regards the use of the e-payment system, one has simply to visit Departmental portal – https://vahan.mizoram.nic.in and select the DTO where they last paid tax. Then after entering Registration number and the last five characters of chassis number, one should go as the instruction that follows.
After making successful payment, tax receipt is to be taken using “Print Payment”.
Transport Secretary Hrangtawna, who inaugurated the e-payment system Monday, said that the initiative is an important part of Digital India and e-governance carried out by the State Government.
While in other NE States, the e-payment system is only for commercial vehicle, it covers all types of vehicles in Mizoram, he said.
Transport Secretary also said that an offer has been made that one can pay road tax etc. without late fee through the newly launched e-payment system within the initial 2 months.
