Aizawl, Oct 11: Still many families in Mizoram are without toilet, UD&PA Director Zorammuana said when speaking as Chief Guest at the closing function of Cleanliness Week in Lunglei yesterday.
Zorammuana said that 278 families in the state capital city Aizawl have been identified as living without toilet. In Lunglei District, around 3000 families are without toilet, he added. The State UD&PA Director said NGOs are invited to extend support in terms of manpower for construction of toilet for these people who are still living without having toilet. By working together with the NGOs, we hope to achieve success with Swachh Bharat Mission, he said.
Steps are taken vigorously to meet the target of Swachh Bharat Mission which is to India a clean nation by 2 October 2019, the very 150th birth anniversary of father of the nation Mahatma Gandhi, UD&PA Director Zorammuana said, mentioning that under SBM, the government will provide separate dustbin of different colour to every buy gabapentin 300 mg household for disposal of biodegradable and non-biodegradable waste. Highlighting the achievement of Mizoram so far, UD&PA Director Zorammuana said in his speech that Mizoram holds the 9th rank among the clean State Capitals and Aizawl holds the 39th rank amomg the clean Municipal Areas in the country.
“When proper waste processing plant is installed, we even hope of hold the number 1 position”, he added.
Of the steps being taken under SBM, UD&PA Director said that agreement has been made with Grassroots Football Academy under which UD&PA shall provide the trainees of Grassroots Football Academy with jersey while the latter shall organise social work of cleaning Aizawl city once in a week.
He mentioned that Aizawl has been selected for the Central government’s project ‘Atal Mission for Rejuvenation & Urbanisation Transformation’ (AMRUT). Request is being made to the Central government to include Lunglei also though its population is a little less than 1 lakh, he added.
