Aizawl, Sept 16: Appreciating the FIR lodged against him over the alleged conflict of interests, former Minister of State Lal Thanzara said truth will be revealed soon to justify himself as being innocence of the allegation.
Addressing a function organized by Mizoram Departmental Officers Association to felicitate its promoted members which was held at Forensic Science Laboratory Office New Secretariat Complex on Tuesday, Lal Thanzara said he welcomed and appreciated the FIR filed against him by the opposition MNF that demands the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) to probe into to the alleged conflict of interests. Lal Thanzara reiterated that he tendered resignation from the cabinet as well as a legislator to be probed freely. He added that he took the bold decision when he found the allegation, though baseless, was likely to bring disgrace to his party.
Based on the media expose, Lal Thanzara had been accused of holding 21 percent shares in Sunshine Overseas Pvt Ltd that received crores of rupees worth contracts from the state public works department, a portfolio looked after by the chief minister and assisted by Thanzara.
Lal Thanzara also pointed out that opposition legislator Lalruatkima had recently alleged him of his share in Sunshine Overseas as responsible for the delay in full completion of road construction by the company. “The MNF legislator also accused me of sending directive SMS to the Board Chairman when recruitment on contractual basis was made under the Health Department, a portfolio looked after by me then”, he added.
Former Minister of State Lal Thanzara further said that he and the opposition MLA had burst out into strong argument during Assembly session over SMS. “The legislator said it can be verified from service provide. But he is unable to produce prima-facie evidence till date”, he said, addaing that he will quit politics if the legislator produce document or evidence in support of his allegation this time.
“ Even if he is unable to produce evidence, I would not put any demand before him, but shall allow him to make any remarks as a leader”, Thanzara said.
Citing about the FIR being filed against him by MNF, Lal Thanzara said he has appreciated it as from now all the baseless issues and misunderstanding will be cleared. “I am happy now as the ACB will find out the truth whether I have share in Sunshine Overseas or I along with my brother Lal Thanhawla gave various contracts to the firm worth crores of rupees”, he added.
