Aizawl, April 8: Visiting Union Minister of State for Rural Development Sudarshan Bhagat called on Governor Lt Gen Nirbhay Sharma (Retd.) at Raj Bhavan here yesterday late evening.
The Union Minister, who visited Kolasib District during the day, told the State Governor of his purpose of visit which was to inspect the initiatives IAY and Rural development in Kolasib District.
He told the Governor that he found the various initiatives that have been carried out so far in the RD blocks in Kolasib District good. He also expressed before the Governor his gratitude over the hospitality shown to him by the Mizoram government, Kolasib DC and officials during his visit.
Governor Nirbhay Sharma on his part told the Union MOS for Rural Development that the need of Centre’s help by Mizoram is quite high for being a small State. It is also necessary that the assistance funds are received in time, he added.
The Governor asked the Union Minister to help in all possible way so that the available central fund may be received by the state in time.
The Union Minister and Governor during their interaction discussed important matters for the progress of Mizoram economy including rain water harvesting and organic farming.
Union Minister Sudarshan Bhagat was accompanied by Lt.Col. Z.S. Zuala (Retd.), MLA, Parliamentary Secretary, Rural Development Department, Lalhmingthanga, Secretary, RD and other officials.
