Aizawl, Dec 7: 23 Villages (Urban Areas) of Mizoram being covered by Phase III of the Central Government’s Cable TV Digitalization programme, works are on to meet the deadline i.e. 31st December, 2015, after which no channels will be provided without Set Top Box.
Review of works on Cable TV Digitalization carried out so far was held under the leadership of Lalrinliana Fanai, Commissioner & Secretary, GAD, at his Office Chamber here today.
Two local cable operators in Aizawl- LPS and Zonet reported in the meeting that they have as of now taken long steps regarding the TV Digitalization programme.
The review meeting also learnt that, as has been directed, each District DC has appointed Additional D.C as Nodal Officer under whose guidance works are being carried on in the fastest possible manner so as to meet the deadline.
Also in the day, a meeting was held at Kolasib DC Office where Cable TV Operators – CZS, KCN and the Sub-operators under them reported before District DC H. Lalengmawia on the steps they have taken so far and on the ongoing works within Serchhip District Urban Areas (Kolasib, Bairabi, Vairengte and Kawnpui).
The DC expressed satisfaction of the steps taken by the local cable operators so far and expressed happiness over their works to be able to meet the deadline.
Meanwhile, the DC asked the sub operators at Bairabi and Thingdawla to submit their problem in writing the same of which he would put up to GAD at the earliest.
Cable TV Digitization entails that each subscriber need to have set top box per TV. The cable fee would vary according to their selection of channels.
Awareness on Cable TV digitization may be organised by the Cable Operators for their subscribers, the meeting with the DC decided.
