Aizawl, Nov 30: The Mizo National Front (MNF) president on Monday called upon all political parties in the state to go hand in hand and develop the feeling of oneness. Calling upon all political parties, Zorama said it has become increasingly important that all the Mizo nationalist live in one accord and develop a feeling of solidarity and oneness. “I earnestly asked the Zoram Nationalist Party (ZNP) and the Mizoram People’s Conference (MPC) to live under one roof as they are true Mizo nationalist. I also appealed to the Congress to do the same since some of the party workers are nationalist who have great love for the Mizo nation,” Zorama said while addressing a political session at Mizo Hnam Run on Monday .
Zorama said that the newly elected Aizawl Municipal Corparation (AMC) in the best possible way would work hand in hand with the ruling Congress government. “It is our greatest desires that MNF led AMC works wholeheartedly and effectively with the state government in order to develop Aizawl city,” he said, adding that he also wanted to work friendly and transparently with state government in the process of developing Aizawl as smart city as has been selected by the central government.
The central government on 27 August announced the names of 98 cities selected for the Modi government’s flagship smart cities project and included Aizawl to be developed as smart city.
The MNF president said that he would extend endless help to the newly elected councilor in obtaining fund from the central government as they are novice and inexperienced. “I would lead them and go anywhere with them to find fund for development of Aizawl city,” he said.
He added that it would not be difficult for the MNF led AMC to obtain development fund from the centre as he has many close friends there.
Zorama said that two governments would be in rule in Aizawl from now on and in case the Congress led state government diverted or hijacked fund meant for AMC, MNF would approach a high court without any delay.
He said that the state government has only 10 days to legally keep fund with itself but the former AMC government has to repay a total of Rs 100 lakhs liabilities owing to failure on the part of state Congress government to release fund in time.
Zoram also congratulated the ruling Congress on its major victory in LADC polls held on 26 November.
